LEGALPrivacy

Your game stays on your Mac.

plugview has no accounts, no analytics and no telemetry. This page lists every piece of data that leaves your Mac and where it goes.

EFFECTIVE 1 OCTOBER 2026

The app

  • Video and sound never leave your Mac. plugview shows the capture card's picture and plays its sound. It does not record, store or send them anywhere.
  • Camera and microphone access is used only for the capture card. plugview never turns on your Mac's own camera or listens to its microphone.
  • No account, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reports. plugview does not know who you are or how you use it.
  • Saved settings (window size and position, the card you picked, your preferences) are stored on your Mac in the macOS defaults system and never sent anywhere.

Update checks

Since version 0.3.0, plugview checks for a newer version once a day, and when you choose Check for Updates… in the app menu. It asks GitHub's public API (api.github.com) for the latest plugview release. The request carries no identifier and no information about you or your Mac beyond what any web request carries: GitHub sees your IP address, the time, and a user agent naming plugview and its version. GitHub handles that under the GitHub General Privacy Statement. You can turn the daily check off in the menu bar panel. Earlier versions make no network connections at all.

This website

  • No cookies, no analytics, no trackers, no ads.
  • Hosting. plugview.app is served by Amazon Web Services (Amazon S3 and CloudFront). To deliver a page, AWS processes your IP address and request. We have not turned on access logging, so we keep no record of your visits.
  • Fonts and files. Everything on the site, fonts included, is served from plugview.app. Pages make no requests to other companies.
  • Theme. If you switch between light and dark, the choice is saved in your browser's local storage. It stays in your browser and is never sent to us.
  • Downloads come from GitHub (see below).

GitHub and Homebrew

The app, the command and the source code are hosted on GitHub, and Homebrew downloads them from there. When you download a release, open an issue or report a vulnerability, GitHub processes that under its own privacy statement. Homebrew collects its own anonymous analytics unless you turn them off; see Homebrew analytics.

Changes

If plugview starts handling any new data, for example when paid Pro features arrive with a license and a payment provider, this page will say exactly what and why before that version is released. The date at the top shows the last change.
